Achievement in Asia Award (Robert T. Poe Prize)

Professor Jing Shu (Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academic of Sciences) is the winner of the 2019 OCPA Achievement in Asia Award (Robert T. Poe Prize).

The OCPA Achievement in Asia Award (Robert T. Poe Prize) is awarded annually to a Chinese physicist/astronomer or a team working in Asia in recognition of their outstanding achievements in physics and astronomy. The Award carries a total cash prize of US$2,000 and a certificate citing the awardee's accomplishments in research.

The citation for Jing-Shu: 

For his leading research on the breaking of fundamental symmetries in particle physics and cosmology.

Bio:
Professor Jing Shu received his bachelor's degree in physics from Peking University in 2003 and his Ph.D. degree in 2008 from the University of Chicago under Professor Carlos Wagner. He was a project researcher from 2008-2011 in Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (IPMU) and a European Research Council fellow in Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) from 2011-2012. In 2012, he joined the Institute of Theoretical Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences as an associate professor, and became a full professor in 2015.

The 2019 OCPA Outstanding Dissertation Award is given to two winners:

  • Yang Wan (Weizmann Institute of Science, graduated from Tsinghua University)
  • Lei Feng (University of Maryland, graduated from the University of Chicago)

Outstanding Young Researcher Award (Macronix Prize)

  Because of the lack of valid nomination, we have no winner of the 2019 OCPA OYRA.
