Dr. Hai-Zhou Lu Southern University of Science and Technology, China

Citation: For his pioneering explorations on the theories of emergent quantum Hall effects.

Bio: Dr. Lu received his Bsc from Lanzhou University in 2002 and PhD from Tsinghua University in 2007. After working as a postdoc (2007-2012) and research assistant professor (2012-2015) in the University of Hong Kong, he joined Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) at Shenzhen as a tenure-track associate professor and was promoted to a full professor in 2018 and chair professor in 2021. His research field is theoretical condensed matter physics. He is an expert on the theories of quantum transport in topological matter. In particular, he contributed to the pioneering theories of the quantum spin Hall effect and weak (anti-)localization in thin films of topological insulator, Fermi-arc and charge-density-wave mechanisms of the 3D quantum Hall effects, and disorder-induced nonlinear Hall effects.
